Stéphanie Cooper-Slockyj has worked with Linguaid since 2021. Co-designer of the CAJA certification (Communiquer en anglais juridique des affaires) and its lead assessor, she puts her expertise at the service of lawyers and in-house counsel who want to strengthen their command of legal English.
A Juris Doctor (University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco) with a Bachelor of Arts in history and French (University of California, Santa Barbara), Stéphanie was admitted to the California Bar and practised as a business attorney in San Francisco (Akay & Associates) before devoting herself to legal English. She teaches legal English at Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) and has taught comparative law (contract law, EU law) at IPAG Business School. She has more than 20 years’ experience teaching legal English in France, working with a wide range of legal professionals — lawyers, in-house counsel, notaries, judges and law lecturers — through training, coaching and language consulting.
She designs and delivers training programmes for leading institutions such as Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas, the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA), Inafon Île-de-France and the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA). She has also developed legal English assessment tools for international law firms and teaching programmes for Paris II’s Centre de Formation Permanente.
Aware of the demands of legal practice — precision of language, rigour, time management — Stéphanie bases her approach on concrete situations drawn from her clients’ real files and contexts.
Her pragmatic, personalised teaching, informed by her dual experience as a lawyer and a trainer, helps legal professionals reach a high level of operational English and communicate with confidence in an international environment.
