Everything is done remotely. You set the pace with your coach; most participants complete the programme in three to four months.
The CAJA programme comprises a free 15-minute assessment call, one-to-one video sessions with an English-speaking coach who is a former lawyer, e-learning between sessions, then the certification (90 minutes of remote assessments). 20 to 50 hours, from €2,000 incl. VAT, CPF-eligible.
- Assessment call (15 min, free)
We assess your level (B2 minimum required), the situations in which you work in English, and your funding. You leave with a costed programme — or with the honest recommendation not to do it now.
- One-to-one coaching with an English-speaking coach, a former lawyer
Video sessions with the same coach from start to finish. The material is your own files: a contract to review, a negotiation to prepare, a client to receive. Each session corrects what costs you credibility and trains what will be assessed.
- E-learning “Yes, You Ken English”
Between sessions, a few minutes of video and audio capsules designed by Ken Fagan: the typical mistakes of French-speaking lawyers, false friends, precision of vocabulary. Active correction and repetition, at your own pace.
- The CAJA certification
90 minutes of remote assessments before a jury: three oral role-plays and two written tasks. The assessments in detail.
- Your certificate
Issued by Linguaid France after the jury’s deliberation. Transmitted to the Caisse des Dépôts if you funded the programme through the CPF. A result you can put on LinkedIn and on your CV.
The programme coursebook, included for every participant
Our sessions draw on Practical English Language Skills for Lawyers (Routledge, 2023), written by two CAJA coaches, Natasha Costello and Louise Kulbicki. Eleven chapters mapped to a lawyer’s working life: networking, calls and video meetings, client meetings, legal writing, presentations, contract drafting and negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, advocacy. British Council ELTons finalist 2024.
Every participant receives a copy on enrolment. It is used between sessions and stays with you after the certification.
For law firms and legal departments
We train whole teams — Action Logement, Gifi, Paris business law firms — with a dedicated coach per person, progress reporting for the manager and a certification for each participant. Quotation within 48 hours of a first conversation.
